The ESA BIC Tagus program is now open for applications

The ESA BIC Tagus program, part of the European Space Agency (ESA) incubation center network, aims to support early-stage startups by promoting the transfer of space technology to terrestrial market applications. This initiative is coordinated by Técnico, University of Lisbon, through Técnico Venture Lab.
Throughout the program, selected startups will have the opportunity to develop and validate their solutions, accelerate their market entry, and join a highly specialized international ecosystem.
What support is provided?
The program offers a comprehensive set of support measures to accelerate development and market entry, including:
- Up to 2 years of incubation: access to a structured program with specialized mentorship, business development support, and technical and commercial guidance;
- Up to €60,000 in non-dilutive funding: financial support for product development, validation, and early market steps, without equity requirements;
- Access to an international network: connection to ESA and a European network of partners, including industry, research institutions, and investors, fostering collaboration and growth opportunities.
What areas are covered?
Projects in the following areas are eligible:
- Earth observation;
- Satellite navigation (GNSS);
- Satellite communications (SatCom);
- Upstream space solutions;
- Downstream and upstream applications for space data;
- Dual-use and cross-sector innovation.
Who can apply?
Eligible applicants include:
- Projects that use satellite data, space engineering expertise, downstream applications, or space technologies, with market potential and growth ambition;
- Startups under four years old (or projects in the process of being established), based in Portugal, developing products or services based on space technology or data, and demonstrating commercial potential.
