On November 28, Técnico celebrated the contract signing of three professors and researchers from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering: Jorge de Sousa (Associate Professor), José de Sousa (Associate Professor), and João Felício (Assistant Professor). The event took place at the Técnico Innovation Center and featured presentations by Nuno Horta, President of DEEC, Rogério Colaço, President of Instituto Superior Técnico, Pedro Brogueira, President of Técnico’s Scientific Council, Luís Oliveira e Silva, President of the School Council, Miguel Cacho Teixeira, President of the Pedagogical Council, Cláudia Jacinto, Director of the Human Resources Office, and Luís Lemos Alves, Coordinator of the Support and Development Program for Faculty Members and Researchers.

Rogério Colaço began by highlighting the need for Técnico to renew itself every year. “The objective is that Técnico, as time goes by, becomes ever newer,” he stated, emphasizing that “Técnico only exists when people exist, and everyone is needed, everyone is indispensable,” also pointing to the importance of exposing students to real scenarios across different engineering fields.

Next, Pedro Brogueira reinforced Técnico’s role in scientific development, challenging faculty members to inspire students. He also extended a welcome message to the community.

Luís Oliveira e Silva likewise emphasized the renewal of ideas and perspectives, something that impacts the future of students.

Miguel Cacho Teixeira then highlighted the connection between teaching and research and congratulated both the new faculty members for joining the School and Técnico for its ability to attract new talent.

The event also featured speeches by Cláudia Jacinto, who welcomed everyone, and by Luís Lemos Alves, who addressed the Shaping the Future program, an initiative that provides training and supports the integration of new faculty members and researchers at Técnico.
