FST Lisboa ranks in the Top 20 of the Formula Student World Ranking

FST Lisboa, the Formula Student team from Instituto Superior Técnico, reached 8th place in the Driverless category (autonomous vehicle) and 15th place in the Electric Vehicle category in the Formula Student World Ranking. The ranking evaluated the performance of 480 teams worldwide.

During the past year, the team took part in three competitions, achieving 9th place in Electric Vehicle and 24th place in Driverless in Germany, 1st place in both categories in Portugal, and 6th and 2nd place, respectively, in Spain.

Participating in the different competitions required a high level of technical and organizational demands, from the design and development phase of the vehicle to its validation in a competitive environment.

This year, the team celebrates its 25th anniversary. “Throughout this journey, FST Lisboa has established itself as a leading educational project at Técnico, promoting innovation, teamwork and technical excellence through participation in international university automotive engineering competitions,” adds Maria Bastos.

Currently, the students are developing the FST15, which will compete in competitions this summer. This year, the priority is to “consolidate the team’s performance across all competitions, ensuring solid and consistent results, while maintaining high technical standards in the areas of electrification and autonomous driving.”

FST Lisboa continues to count on the support of VINCI Energies Portugal as its main sponsor.
