On April 1, Abdelrahman Seleem Mohamed Seleem successfully defended his thesis, Deep Learning-based Point Cloud and Event Data Coding and Compressed Domain Classification, supervised by Professors Fernando Manuel Bernardo Pereira and Nuno Miguel Morais Rodrigues. The defense took place in the PA-3 amphitheater, in the Mathematics building.

The jury was chaired by Dr. Luís Manuel de Jesus Sousa Correia, Full Professor at Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon, and included Dr. Paulo Luís Serras Lobato Correia, Full Professor at Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon; Dr. Fernando Manuel Bernardo Pereira, Full Professor at Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon (Scientific Advisor); Dr. Caroline Conti, Associate Professor at the School of Technologies and Architecture of ISCTE – University Institute of Lisbon; Dr. João Miguel Duarte Ascenso, Associate Professor at Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon; Dr. Luís Alberto da Silva Cruz, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology, University of Coimbra; and Dr. Tim Bruylants, Image Coding & Standardization at intoPIX, Belgium, a recognized expert in the scientific field of the thesis.
