On March 20, António Paiva Lapas de Gusmão successfully defended his thesis, Deep Learning Techniques for Analog Integrated Circuit Placement, under the supervision of Professors Nuno Calado Correia Lourenço and Ricardo Miguel Ferreira Martins. The defense took place in the PA-3 auditorium, in the Mathematics building.

The examination committee was chaired by Professor Luís Miguel Teixeira d'Avila Pinto da Silveira, Full Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon, and included Doctor Pedro Nuno Mendonça dos Santos, Coordinating Professor at the Military Academy; Doctor Rui Manuel Leitão Santos Tavares, Assistant Professor at the NOVA School of Science and Technology, NOVA University Lisbon; Doctor Mário Alexandre Teles de Figueiredo, Full Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon; Doctor Jorge Manuel dos Santos Ribeiro Fernandes, Full Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon; and Doctor Nuno Cavaco Gomes Horta, Full Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon.
