On May 19, João Dias Lopes successfully defended his thesis, Precision Trade-off Floating-Point Units for Coarse-Grained Reconfigurable Arrays, supervised by Professors José João Henriques Teixeira de Sousa and Horácio Cláudio De Campos Neto. The defense took place in lecture hall PA-3, at the Mathematics Building.

The examination committee was chaired by Professor Helena Maria dos Santos Geirinhas Ramos, Full Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon, and included Dr. Nuno Miguel Cardanha Paulino, Researcher at INESC TEC, Porto; Dr. Arnaldo da Silva Rodrigues de Oliveira, Associate Professor at the Department of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics, University of Aveiro; Dr. Paulo Ferreira Godinho Flores, Associate Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon; and Dr. José João Henriques Teixeira de Sousa, Assistant Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon.
