On January 29, Stefânia de Sousa Faria successfully defended her PhD thesis entitled Electromagnetic Characterisation of Fire in Radio Communications, under the supervision of Professor Carlos António Cardoso Fernandes. The defense took place in the PA-3 amphitheatre, at the Mathematics Building.

The jury was chaired by Professor Luís Manuel Correia, Full Professor, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon, and included Professor Manuel Garcia Sanchez, Full Professor, University of Vigo, Spain; Professor Armando Carlos Domingues da Rocha, Assistant Professor, University of Aveiro; Professor Mário Gonçalo Mestre Veríssimo Silveirinha, Full Professor, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon; and Professor Carlos António Cardoso Fernandes, Full Professor, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon.
