Escola do Comércio visits us once again

On October 15 and 22, we welcomed two classes from the Escola do Comércio. Both visits began with a presentation about the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (DEEC), delivered by Daniela Leonardo, who introduced the main research areas and professional fields of electrical and computer engineers. Some projects developed by the department’s faculty and alumni were also showcased. Throughout the session, students had the opportunity to learn about the academic programs available and the student groups they may join in the future.

Afterwards, both classes visited the Network and Computer Systems module, as well as the Artificial Intelligence and Robotics module.

In the first module, students learned about the Internet of Things through two practical demonstrations. University students presented projects developed within the scope of Network Architecture, which included both the connection between sensors and actuators and telephone communication over the internet.

In the Artificial Intelligence and Robotics module, students explored key concepts in the field and had the opportunity to interact with the robot Bob, which is capable of recognizing certain movements—such as identifying a person waving inside a room—and simulating guest reception at events.

The visits concluded with a group photo at the North Tower.
