Pupilos do Exército Came to learn about robotics

On the past 14th, we received a visit from the students of the Instituto dos Pupilos do Exército. The students got to know the educational offerings of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, including the courses and extracurricular activities available, as well as the work developed at the Institute of Systems for Robotics (ISR).

The department's presentation was given by Professor Sónia Pinto, who also spoke about the scientific areas, research, and some ongoing projects involving DEEC faculty members.

Next, the students visited ISR, where some team members from SocRob@Home explained concepts from the fields of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics.

The students also had the opportunity to interact with a robot, whose objective was to greet the guests at an event, guide them to the host, and estimate the participants' age based on a few simple questions.

The visit concluded with a photo taken at the entrance of the north tower.
